Chaser (Sea Scout Ship 90) is chartered by our sponsors, The Native Sons of the Golden West, Napa Parlor 62.  The Ship's Committee, lead by George Kernohan, is responsible for appointing the Skipper and Mates.

Skipper Carl Shellhorn and his Mates work together to provide leadership and training for our youth Crew Members.

The Crew is organized in four departments, Commissary, Deck, Engineering and Navigation.  Each department is lead by a Crew Leader and Assistant Crew Leader.  The Ship's Boatswain and Boatswain's Mate are the leaders of the crew.

All new crew members start in the Deck Department where they will learn the basic jobs of lookout and helmsman, as well as learning to handle lines, fenders and anchors.  Progression to other departments and leadership rolls come with growing knowledge of the boat and our organization.
