I am Brandon Daniels,a former Bos'n and Officer of the Chaser. It warms my heart to see that boat that I love so much, being that I am so far from her. She looks great in the pictures, although the summer cruise photos are a little grainy, but who am I to whine. Pass this on to the crew: Treasure every second that you get with the Chaser, they will some of the best days of your life, Trust Me! Fair winds and following seas, my brothers.
Sincerly, Brandon C. Daniels The first Bos'n of the current Vessel
I am very impressed with your origination. I think it is a great learning opportunity for the kids. I am real happy that my nephew J.J. is involved in your sea scouts. I like this site a lot. Keep up all the good work. Marie Popejoy

Hello. I am a former member of the Sea Scouts and was on board 1960-1962. I was glad to see a web site for all the units but especially for the Napa unit. I wonder if you could give me a little history on what happened to the previous Chaser. If I am not mistaken, her unit insignia has also changed. Also, if you have the specs on the old Chaser, I would appreciate it (e.g., length, beam, etc.). You can reach me by email at rrobert@coe.memphis.edu. Thanks and enjoythe cruises. David (Rob) Roberts.
Hello, My name is Pete Diegel and I was a member of the Chaser from 1977-1981. I was ships Bos'n 1980-81. This is a great website and will check back often. I would be interested in forming/reforming the Chaser Allumni Association. If there are any other former "Chasermen" out there that would be interested in doing this, please let me know. My home E-mail address is bmcmcpd@gateway.net. V/R Pete Diegel

We received your flyer in the mail and this program seems interesting. We would like to be part of the cruise on Sep.30,2000. We will see you then. Great web site very informational.
What's up guys?, It's Steve Rennison here. I was a member of the ship for about 3 years, cruised 3 awsome summer cruises. I learned so much in this program, and I got so much out of it. I wish I was still there. This is a great site, it shows what it is like to cruise on the ship. Who knows , I might see you guy's again someday.
Great to see the ship on the internet. I was once an ACL in the engine room onboard the Chaser back in 82 or 83. I am currently in the United States Navy as an E-5, AMS(AW)Frees.(Aviation Structural Mechanic Second Class) I have fond memories of the Dances at Treasure Island from The Chaser Days. I have also been to the buttercup twice, That was alot of fun as well. I was Aboard the the albatross for a couple years before joining the chaser apon moving back to Napa. I remember going to the regatta with the Chaser at the Albatross's homeport and winning all the trophies. I hope to get involved with the crew once more when I return to the area. Take Care! Petty Officer Frees United States Navy

Ahoy Mates! It is I, Rich Gurry, 70-74 Chaser QM, just came back after 18 years in Alaska, Piloting CruiseShips, SuperTankers and Trident Subs. I, along with Ray R. and Steve T, all Chaser QMs now joining the SF Bar Pilots. Tommy S.. good to hear from you - one of the many JC Clunie/AR Young QMs. Come by and say hi if you're ever in town. I'm helpin out when I can. I'll say hi to Jess for you. RMG
Hello Chaser When I was a teenager in Napa, CA, I was a member of the SS Chaser back in the mid-late 70s. I have the patch to prove it. Back then, I remember the Captain's name was Mr. Young. After high school, I enlisted in the Coast Guard. Many of the skills I learned from my time on the Chaser I carried over to my 7 wonderful years in the USCG. Today, I am a married father of 2 great kids and living in southeastern Wisconsin where I am a director for a large ambulance service. I have wonderful memories of the Chaser, the regattas, and a great time I had during a summer cruise to the pacific northwest. (as a matter of fact, I had my first true kiss from a girl I met during that time up in Oregon.) Keep the great work, the Sea Scouts will forever hold a special place in my heart. Sincerely, Franco Wissa, NREMT-P, CCEMTP Darien, Wisconsin sdfd_148@hotmail.com
Hello, Skipper Shellhorn, I am glad to see that the Chaser is doing fine. This is Mike Gonzales, I was XO under Harold Scott (may he rest in peace) then officer under Chick Russell. I am now working in Memphis, TN for Federal Express Corporate Security. I am writting to see if you have any pictures of Scotty at Sea Scout Events. I have some seagoing pictures in wooden frames with shelves like I sent to Chick Russell if you have been in his lavish bar/rec room. I want to start putting Sea Scout photos around them and since Scotty was my first skipper and mentor, I want to honor his memory in my get away room. I would also like pictures of other events and from other ships as I do miss Sea Scouts very much. Hard to get out of your blood after being in for 24 years of my 43 years of life. E-mail mikegon_2001@yahoo.com home: 4974 Glenalden Cove Southaven, MS 38672 Hope to hear from you soon. V/R Michael Gonzales
Hey this is Keith Jones from the Intrepid. Your ship is grea and I bet the people are too. I hope to see you guys at the regattas!
I've always wondered why your ship emblem is a drunk-looking cat.....hmmm (is it scurvy?) Anyhow, thanks for hosting a very wet but fun mini regatta this year(my girls and i got wetter than others as some of you may have noticed :-) ). Im also looking for my grey Columbia jacket that i left at the dance...so if any of you have seen it, Mr Shellhorn has my contact info. Tiffany SSS Morning Star (Bosun's Mate)
Always glad to know what my old friends on Chaser are doing. I miss you guys. Skipper Shellhorn needs to get off his a-- and contact his old buddy Commodore (LCDR) Kempner!
Came over to this site looking for the address of the base for the mini-regatta this weekend. Very impressive job with this page!! I've always been especially impressed by this boat and the Chaser unit as a whole. :) -Tim B. SSS Challenger 1993-2003, current officer on SSS Morning Star
I am stopping by to say hello, This is Robert (Warren's son) Clark Are there any more Photos from the Baltimore thru the Canal trip that I can see?

For those from the mid 1980's that might want to say hello to Marty Miller, My e-mail address is Jennimar@att.net. I'd love to hear from you.
I just wanted to say hi. My name is Marty Miller and I was a crew member from 1983 to 1985 when the 63' AVR was the ship in the river. I sent an e-mail to the XO with more details. Great to see the organization still exists and ther new ship looks great. Take Care.
It's nice to see that the SSS Chaser is still going strong. When I was on the Chaser, it was still the old 63' AVR(Air Craft Rescue Vessel). Skipper John E. Clunie was the skipper. Is Jesse Whitlatch still an adult leader. Tell Jesse I said Hi. Former Sea Scout Quartermaster Tom Sugawara.
Hello, my name is Ray Ridens and I was on the Chaser from '81 through '84 when I recieved my Quartermaster award. This is wonderful to see the program moving forward and continuing to grow in the community. After Scouts I spent a few years in the USAF the joined the tugboat fleet on SF bay. I am now a Captain for Foss maritime and on the trainee list for the SF Bar Pilots. I owe all my success in the industry to Scouting and the adult leaders from my era. Good luck to you all.
Ahoy! I was a Sea Scout with SES Seahorse, Ship 99, Vallejo, California. You and Benicia were our main rivals back in 1962-64. Great times! What became of that big fancy ship you had back then? Question. Does Vallejo have a Sea Scout program any longer? Wish you "gobs" well. Maintain the tradition! Able Scout Cisco Lopez, now Fontana, California, Ft.Apache@sbcglobal.net
Thanks to the Chaser, I met my loving husband Brandon.Wonderful memories!! Mrs. Brandon C. Daniels (From the Sea Otter)
AWESOME SITE BUT IT NEEDS MORE, AND BETTER PICTURES.
Update of this website is in progress, but we need many more up to date pictures. Digital ones may be sent to chaser@johnswebs.net and regular photos may be brought to a meeting. Please provide information on the photos for proper placement and captions.
