Welcome to the web site of the Sea Scout Ship Chaser. As part of the Boy Scouts of America Venturing Program, we provide boating related activities and training for young men 14 - 21 years of age. SSS Chaser serves the City of Napa and surrounding communities. SSS Chaser was commissioned in 1958 as the M/V Albacore for the California Department of Fish and Game. She saw duty in Southern California as a patrol boat and later as a research vessel. In 1986, the ship was donated to our program. As SSS Chaser, she has cruised the West Coast of North America from Baja California to British Columbia. The Chaser is 90 feet long and has a beam of 22.5 feet. She displaces 130 tons and is of steel construction. Carl F. Shellhorn is the Skipper.
SSS Chaser is chartered and sponsored by the Native Sons of the Golden West, Napa Parlor 62.
