Summer
Cruise 2010 to Alaska
The Chaser is going to Ketchikan, Alaska on Summer
Cruise 2010 and is inviting all other Sea Scout Ships to join us in our commemoration
of the 100th anniversary of Sea Scouting.
We will be departing Napa, CA June 25th, and
traveling to Ketchikan via the Inland Passage (1468 Nautical Miles, or 7
Days underway). We will be sightseeing through the waters of
southeast Alaska with experienced pilots, and visiting areas never seen
from a cruise ship. the return trip is scheduled to put us back in
Napa, CA on August 8th.
One of the single largest hurdles that will be faced by
the cruising vessels is fuel. The total trip will be over 3500
Nautical Miles, and for the Chaser at 22 Gal/Hr we will burn almost 9000
gallons of fuel. Another Major item for the Chaser to fill is
qualified leadership, as many adults cannot commit to a 6 week trip.
We will be stopping in several ports of call where we will be able to
switch out adult leadership as required.
